Destiny 2 has a new mystery to solve, and players are already on the case, as the weekly reset instructs Guardians to head back to the time maze via Osiris’ sundial to explore the Corridors of Time. But that’s the only quest objective, and many are wondering what, exactly, it will take to fulfill it.
Bungie has a long history of adding hidden mystery quests to Destiny games. These are quite popular with the series’ fanbase and often lead to powerful weapons. One Destiny 2 puzzle led players away from their consoles and PCs and to a real-world location in upstate New York where they found coins and a real-life replica of the Valkyrie weapon.
Players need to speak to Osiris, who will instruct them to return to the Corridors of Time where they previously went to rescue Saint-14, according to a breakdown from Rock Paper Shotgun. Guardians flocked to the location to find that things had changed quite a bit. Some began to notice that if they ran through the portals in a certain order, they ultimately enter various rooms and are rewarded with lore cards and, in one case, an emblem. The key to figuring this out is the obelisks throughout the game, whose symbols began to change and rearrange with the update. The symbols correspond to those on pillars near the Corridors of Time’s portals and change hourly to reveal more paths to take in this mystery quest. Each path leads to a room that seems to contain a tomb of a Guardian. While the lore seems to point to Saint-14, these rooms are not the same as the one containing his tomb. Twitter user berserkbrandee helped Guardians break down the Corridors with a handy image:
The tomb rooms are not the end of the mystery, however. Each contains more symbols and more layers of intrigue. The community has received information from Bungie devs on social media that suggests the quest won’t be time-gated in the manner many have been historically, which has given players some breathing room as they attempt to understand the Corridors of Time.
The reward for this new Corridors of Time mystery is yet unknown, but many speculate that it is a new exotic sword because one can be seen laying on the tombs. Others speculate that it is part of the quest for the exotic Bastion weapon, which releases later this month. Dataminers have determined that the weapon quest will require an item from the Corridors of Time - the chronometric core - so this is a possibility. For now, there are plenty of unanswered questions, but a team of Guardians working to find out their answers sooner rather than later.
