Now that Disney+ has wrapped up the first season of The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans are wondering what could be next on the popular streaming network. With The Mandalorian receiving such positive feedback, a lot of doors have been opened and many questions are being asked about what else could be adapted and who else it will feature.
It’s no secret that the Star Wars universe is massive, and luckily, this means there are plenty of stories to tell with our favorite characters in the franchise. A few have already been confirmed from Disney+ to receive their own show, others are rumored, and some are simply fan favorites that we would love to see more of. With that being said, here are 10 Star Wars characters that need their own show on Disney+.
Warning: Contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Poe Dameron
With the release of The Rise of Skywalker, the conclusion to the Skywalker Trilogies, we got the chance to see Poe in action once again, and hopefully it won’t be our last time to do so.
Poe easily became a beloved character in the sequels. We know there is a whole collection of Marvel comics dedicated to Poe and his life as a Resistance pilot. What better way to bring Poe back to the screen than by creating a show based off these comics? It would give a lot of insight about the character for those of us who favor watching a story instead of reading it.
Lando Calrissian
The last we see of Lando is in The Rise of Skywalker while interacting with new character Jannah–a defected stormtrooper from the First Order. Their conversation was left open-ended as Lando asked Jannah if she wants to learn what her origins are.
Although the question is left unanswered, it hints at what could be a possible spin-off for a perfect piloting-duo series. It even fuels the latest fan-theory that Jannah is Landos daughter.
Qi’ra
After the mess in the box office that was Solo: A Star Wars Story, fans are left wondering what is going on about a sequel and if it’s even possible. There has been much speculation and rumors, and so far there is no confirmation about a continuation, however, we cannot forget that the film is still considered canon in the Star Wars universe and there is one character in particular that fans are curious about.
One of the jaw-dropping surprises of the film was the appearance of Darth Maul, and learning Qi’ra has an allegiance with him. A spin-off series with Qi’ra could be possible as it would answer one major question from the film: what is her connection to Darth Maul? A full series about her connection with him and what happens moving forward holds a lot of potential.
Captain Phasma
Captain Phasma is scary in a very different way than Star Wars fans are use to seeing. She may not have the Force or a history of slaughtering younglings in temples, but she definitely does have a confident dedication to the First Order and impressive combat techniques on her side.
From what we have seen in the sequel trilogy, there is a lot to being the commander of stormtroopers in the First Order. A series about Captain Phasma and the stormtrooper program would be a fascinating and very different take on what we know about stormtroopers and how they have changed overtime.
K-2SO
Droid K-2SO from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has stolen the hearts of millions for his loyalty and sarcastic remarks. While it is confirmed by Disney+ that we will be seeing him in the Cassian Andor series, how great would it be to see him in his own stand-alone series?
This would be a pleasant surprise for fans as we have not seen a Star Wars film or series dedicated to a droid. What better choice than one who has a past with Imperialists and a hilarious personality to keep the fans entertained?
General Hux
General Armitage Hux is a recent addition to the Star Wars universe, having first been introduced in Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Infamous for his dedication to the First Order and rivalry with Kylo Ren, Huxs’ rise to power started when he was very young.
Based on the Expanded Star Wars Universe, Hux was raised by his father Brendol, who was a member of the Empire and believed a good solider is molded from birth. He molded his son to be that soldier. A series about Huxs’ childhood and his rise to the First Order would be a monumental learning curve for fans about the economic transitions from the Empire to the First Order.
Darth Vader
There has been much speculation about a Darth Vader spin-off, and with the release of Marvels Darth Vader comics, it’s all the more possible to for Disney to base a series off of it.
Darth Vader is arguably one of the best antagonists in all of Star Wars. While we do know the origins of Vader, there is still a lot we don’t know. The comics pick up after The Empire Strikes Back, but what about the time between Episodes III and IV when the Empire is at its peak? It would be interesting to see the dynamic between Vader and the Emperor as well as the consequences the galaxy has to face under the rule of a Galactic Empire.
Palpatine
Speaking of the rise of the Empire, how about a show about the leading man himself? After what we learned in The Rise of Skywalker we are reminded there is so much we don’t know about the Emperor.
There is a lot that can be done with this character, much like Darth Vader. A potential series between Episodes III and IV could be made, but any questions during that time might be answered in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, or even that potential Darth Vader series we spoke about. The best choice would be an origin story, especially after the bombshell in The Rise of Skywalker about Palpatine having a son and Rey his granddaughter. It could be interesting to see how he came to have a significant other, how he got involved in politics, and watch him train to be one of the most powerful Sith Lords the Jedi have ever faced.
Mace Windu
A very unlikely character to want to see in a television series, but there are a lot of things to be told about Mace Windu. One of the most sought after questions is about his purple lightsaber.
Based on the Expanded Star Wars Universe, lightsabers come in many colors and they each represent something different. While filming Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Samuel L. Jackson simply asked George Lucas to have a different color lightsaber (purple). However, the Expanded Universe suggests there is more to the story as purple lightsabers represent an affinity for both the light and dark side of the Force. Whether Disney decides to use this information or stay true to what we know as canon, we don’t know, but it would still be great to see Samuel L. Jackson as a Jedi again.
Qui-Gon Jinn
Give this man a show! Qui-Gon Jinn is possibly one of the better things to come out of Episode I: The Phantom Menace. We learn some interesting facts about him during his (too) brief time period on screen.
Obi-Wan, his padawan at the time, reminded Qui-Gon that he would be on the Jedi Council if he actually listened to them. This is our first hint at his rebellious streak, the next is his statement to train young Anakin Skywalker despite the Councils wishes. This carries a lot of potential for a backstory into Qui-Gon, his history as a Jedi, and what made him respected among the Council despite his constant disregard to their orders.
