Disney fans without tickets for D23 Expo 2019 are out of luck: those tickets are now officially sold out. The expo, which will be held on Aug. 23-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center, is one of the most significant Disney events fans can attend. D23 happens every other year and includes celebrity appearances, exclusive first looks at upcoming projects, exclusive exhibits and exclusive merchandise.
This year’s D23 could potentially be one of the biggest for the company. Thanks to Disney’s recent acquisitions, including Fox and Hulu, the company has even more properties to show off than at previous events. With Disney+ launching in November, fans can expect to learn more about the streaming service, as well as get details about Disney’s plans for Hulu and ESPN+. A Disney+ First Look Showcase is sure to have its share of reveals and surprises. Star Wars fans will also have the opportunity to attend a panel for the upcoming Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which will include special guests involved with the show.
Considering that lineup, it’s not a shock Disney has announced this year’s D23 has officially sold out. However, for those who missed out on tickets, not all hope is lost. Disney will release information soon about which panels at the expo will live-stream for everyone to view. Of course, those who missed out won’t get the full D23 experience, but that’s their loss because tickets went on sale in August 2018.
In addition to Disney+ offerings, D23 will also bring more Marvel to the expo. Although Marvel Studios made a lot of huge announcements at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, it still has plans to bring new Marvel information to D23. Marvel may tease more of phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as offer fans an exclusive Avengers: Endgame experience. However, fans of Disney animation won’t get left out in the cold, unless, of course, they want a sneak peek at Frozen 2. Both Walt Disney Animation and Pixar will also have a strong presence at this year’s expo.
There’s even more, though, to this year’s D23. Disney’s recent acquisition of Fox means some of the Fox properties will also get represented at the event. This includes The Simpsons, who will make their D23 debut this year. This year’s D23 has a little something for everyone, so it’s not surprising tickets sold out a week before the expo begins.
