Disney’s Star Wars hotel launches guests into space before they check-in. The legendary franchise’s two theme parks, Galaxy’s Edge, haven’t even been open a year yet, but so far both continue to offer enough Star Wars immersion for fans of all ages.

Though the California-based Star Wars attraction was the first of its kind to open in May 2019, at the moment it’s the Florida-based attraction inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at the Walt Disney World Resort that is gaining considerable attention. Set to open in 2021 near the Florida park, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be the first official Star Wars hotel. So far it looks like it’s going to allow for an experience unlike any other, with the entire hotel marketed as a space cruise. From the moment fans set foot on the Starcruiser, the world of Star Wars opens up to them. Although we’ve only been told a little of what the lavish experience offers, it definitely seems to tick all the right boxes in terms of the sort of adventure that most Star Wars fans would want to take. From sleeping in the sort of cabins that one would expect to find on a spacecraft to being able to gaze out at the limitless expanse of space, the Starcruiser has the potential to change what a film franchise means.

Reading about what Disney has planned for the Galactic Starcruiser is one thing, but it doesn’t really allow for the sort of insight into the new hotel that fans are after. Fortunately, Disney appears to understand fans’ desire for info on this latest Star Wars project. Thanks to a new video on the Disney Parks YouTube channel, we now have our most extensive look at and explanation of the upcoming Galactic Starcruiser. Without a doubt, one of the coolest aspects of the hotel is that it strives to maintain the idea that guests are in space, and this even includes entrance into a capsule that launches guests into space before they’ve even checked in for their stay. You can check out the entire Galactic Starcruiser info video from Disney Parks below:

As previously reported, the Galactic Starcruiser will offer guests a two-night “cruise” through space that docks once on the planet of Batuu. Anyone who has ever been to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or read about the attraction will know that Batuu is the planet on which Disney’s Star Wars attraction can be found. And while the attraction offers numerous highlights for guests, it’s only one of the many immersive qualities available to guests of the Galactic Starcruiser. It may be too early to say so, but based on what we’ve seen of the space cruise in the above video, Disney may have outdone themselves. The idea that fans can spend their days inside an environment that is tailor-made to replicate the concept of space travel is unlike any other hotel, anywhere else in the world. The price of the two-night cruise will likely reflect this, but for fans who have the time and the means, it’s hard to think of a better Star Wars experience.

Still, although the Galactic Cruise looks like a dream come true for many, it certainly isn’t for anyone. Because the purpose of the cruise is to journey through space, that means being in an environment without sunlight or views of the outside world for two days. Granted, there is the stopover in Batuu, but for those who don’t want to fully dive in to the world of Star Wars, the Galactic Starcruiser might be best left to the die-hard fans out there.
