Disney has released even more details about Avengers Campus at Disneyland, including information on its upcoming Spider-Man ride. Disney first announced its plans for a Marvel-themed land at Disneyland’s California Adventure in 2018. The company will build it around its existing Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride and into what was once A Bug’s Land at the theme park.

Disney has a strange history with Marvel, especially when it comes to theme park attractions. In Florida, Universal Studios has licensing for Marvel-themed rides, thanks to a deal that was made well before Disney acquired Marvel. However, that licensing doesn’t extend to Disney’s other parks, which is why Disneyland is getting a Marvel upgrade. Marvel characters have already started meeting guests at Disneyland. It was only a matter of time before Disney decided it needed a full land dedicated to the property. Disneyland got its permit for its Marvel-themed area earlier in the year, and at this year’s D23, the company announced the land would be called Avengers Campus.

Disney recently revealed even more details about Avengers Campus. It also announced that Disneyland Paris would eventually get its own version of the new land. Avengers Campus will feature the Avengers Headquarters. That building will become the entrance to a new E-Ticket attraction that will allow guests to visit Wakanda for an adventure that lets them fly alongside the Avengers. Guests will also have a chance to dine at the Pym Test Kitchen, “where Pym Technologies is using the latest innovations to grow and shrink food.” They will also have the opportunity to meet a variety of Marvel superheroes, including Ant-Man, The Wasp, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and Iron Man. Disneyland Paris will get a Marvel-themed hotel called Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.

Avengers Campus will also be the location of Disney’s first Spider-Man ride. The attraction will have guests slinging webs to help Spider-Man collect some runaway Spider-bots. This is despite Disney’s failed negotiations for keeping Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fortunately, fan-favorite Spidey Tom Holland plans on sticking around as the character, although many feel the MCU won’t be the same without him.

However, it seems that negotiations for Spider-Man aren’t entirely over yet. Regardless of how those discussions turn out, though, Disney has plans to keep the character in its theme parks. Disney does own Marvel, after all. The company still has rights to the character beyond film, so it can still keep Spider-Man in the Avengers, at least in its theme parks. Avengers Campus is expected to open at California Adventure in 2020.
