Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel will offer guests unique vacations. With only days to go as of this writing before Disney’s Orlando, Florida Star Wars park is set to open, Star Wars fans are still adjusting to the offerings of the Galaxy’s Edge attractions at Anaheim’s Disneyland Park.

Having been the first Star Wars park to open back in May of this year, the Disneyland Galaxy’s Edge attraction initially brought in hordes of Star Wars fans eager for an immersive experience on the planet of Batuu. However, during Disney’s recent earnings call, it was revealed by Mouse House CEO Bob Iger that to date, attendance at the Star Wars themed park has been lower than anticipated. This has since been explained away by the fact that there are still attractions yet to come at Galaxy’s Edge, such as the much anticipated Rise of the Resistance, and that the second Galaxy’s Edge attraction in Florida has yet to open. The Florida version of Galaxy’s Edge will be a different experience in some ways than its California counterpart, and this in itself is likely to boost interest in Disney’s latest theme park venture.

In fact, the latest news from Disney during D23 regarding Galaxy’s Edge is that a new hotel is currently being built at the Disney World location. According to a Disney press release, the new hotel – a spacecraft called the Halcyon - will officially be known as Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Offering two night “cruises” through space, Star Wars fans will be able to book and explore the ship - which offers views from every window of space - as well as a day trip to Batuu, where guests will dock in the Galaxy’s Edge spaceport.

The Galactic Starcruiser is meant to mimic Disney’s other real life cruises that take holidayers from one seaport to another, while offering special Disney highlights aboard their chosen ship. As things currently stand, Disney is banking on their new Star Wars space cruise being the most immersive experience imagined yet for the Galaxy’s Edge parks. The two-night journey aboard the Halcyon begins with the boarding of a launch pod that’ll fire guests into space, showcasing space as it flies by until the Starcruiser can be spotted in the distance. Once aboard the Halcyon, guests can familiarize themselves with the ship’s alien crew or peer out the windows at space, which isn’t just a static image – the environment beyond the windows actually continues to evolve and change throughout the journey, promising guests a different view each time they look out the ship’s numerous windows. Aside from the alien crew, different Star Wars characters such as Chewbacca and Rey can be spotted and interacted with on the journey, while guests can tailor-make their journey based on who or what they choose to interact with.

Of course, the journey also offers a docking on Batuu, so that guests can further explore Disneyworld’s Galaxy’s Edge, as well as the Rise of the Resistance attraction, which will open at the Florida park several weeks prior to its California counterpart. Despite talk of low attendance, it seems that Disney is far from finished with its Galaxy’s Edge attractions. Judging by the sound of it, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser does indeed sound like a phenomenal experience, one that very well could make Star Wars fans want to return again and again.
