Division 2 has been coming out with some new content recently and one big item is the Firewall specialization. This specialization, when all stages have been completed, unlocks the flamethrower special weapon among other vanity items. Unless the season 1 pass has been bought then grinding through the stages has to be done to get the Flamethrower special weapon. Season 1 pass holders need to go through the stages if they wish to get the stage rewards leading up to the Flamethrower.
The Firewall specialization is the sixth specialization to come out of Division 2 since its inception. This is the first to have a close-quarters weapon versus special weapons such as the Crossbow, TAC-50 and the P-017 Launcher for example. The stages are also full of close-quarter objectives all to get ready for the Flamethrower. Let’s go through the specialization and some quick methods to get through it to get the Flamethrower quickly and efficiently.
Firewall Specialization Stages in Division 2
Stage 1 Objectives:
Setting enemies on fire, killing enemy Scorchers, kill enemies closer than 7 meters.
Going through DCD Headquarters has the Scorchers needed and the other objectives can be done at the same time. Having a weapon with the Ignited talent, for example, or specialty incendiary ammo helps immensely. A second option is to use a Flame Turret or Incendiary grenades which allows going a bit faster as the fire can be spread by both the gun and the skill. Going forward, if a team member gets a kill that counts towards an objective, all teammates receive credit so bringing a friend is recommended.
Stage 2 Objectives:
Kill “The Wildfire” in Roosevelt Island but destroy her fuel tank first on a normal or higher difficulty, kill named enemies while they have a status effect, apply 2 status effects on an enemy before killing them, complete Manning National Zoo on Normal or higher.
If we continue with the Ignited talent mentioned in Stage 1, using a skill that applies a status effect for the second status effect is the easiest approach. A Stinger Hive which applies bleed, for example, is a great choice. Bounties are a quick way to get the named enemy kills, although if you enter the mission and get to the area with the named enemy, kill the boss with the status effect still intact, wipe, rinse, and repeat. The Wildfire is the first named enemy encountered in Roosevelt Island. After climbing the rope on the plane wing, she’s in the open hazmat area. Clear the area of the other enemies and leave her for last. shoot her tank to make it explode and finish her off. This is a great opportunity to get a 2-for-1 where you can lay two status effects on The Wildfire and then finish her off. Watch for these opportunities in the coming stages to save some time.
Stage 3 Objectives:
Kill “The Bloodhound” after applying the bleed effect in Federal Emergency Bunker, kill elites while they have a status effect applied, kill enemies while on fire, kill named enemies with a sidearm, complete Space Admin HQ on normal or higher.
The flame turret is going to be a good tool here for the burning effect while killing enemies. Be careful not to stay in the flames for too long which can drop health quickly if the skill has been upgraded. An incendiary grenade can be a bit time consuming to have to aim and release it but it can be viewed as an alternative. A tough one is having Scorchers or exploding enemies cause the fire which puts going down a very real risk. Doing the sidearm kills is simple enough by using your main gun for the majority of the health and when the named enemy is at one bar of armor or less, change to the sidearm.
Stage 4 Objectives:
Kill “The Corpulent” in Potomac Event Center after destroying his ammo pack first on Normal difficulty or higher, kill enemies with melee attacks from a ballistic shield, salute burning enemies before killing them, kill named enemies with skills, complete DARPA Research Labs on Hard or higher.
The Corpulent is the final boss of this mission and leaving him for last is preferred. Once he’s all alone, hit his pack until it blows up and then light him up. The ballistic shield kills can be done with the three main shield skills although the Crusader has a slight edge as it can have weapons such as SMGs and ARs equipped while using the shield. Drop the enemy’s health with the weapons and finish them off with a quick shield bash. The saluting enemies objective takes the cake on this one as the difficulty is not in applying the burn, it’s the saluting emote part and the speed needed for it. A suggestion is to continue saluting while a friend lays down a flame turret or uses the Ignited talent on an enemy. If playing solo, make the salute button easy to access to allow the quick transition from applying the burning status effect. A turret is preferred here as it allows for more time to salute.
Stage 5 Objectives:
Destroy the XB-31 “Marauder” in the Pentagon on Normal or higher, kill “Wyvern” after blinding her twice on Normal or harder, kill Elite Scorchers, kill named enemies while they are bleeding, complete any invaded stronghold on Hard or higher.
Blinding Wyvern is easier than it seems. The Firefly skill is what will get this objective completed in no time. In the final area of Tidal Basin, Wyvern waits, and it’s a matter of clearing the area until she drops and letting loose two Firefly Blinder blasts to get her blinded. Neutralize her right after and objective complete. Killing bleeding enemies can be an annoying one to do although a Stinger Hive or Explosive Seeker can add the bleed without much trouble. The Sadist talent is an interesting choice to apply Bleed instead, although a decent alternative, if skills in not preferred, can be concussion grenades although killing the enemy first before the bleed applies might cause a problem.
