The shark movie 47 Meters Down: Uncaged further develops the franchise, but does it feature an after-credits scene? In 2017, British filmmaker Johannes Roberts landed a box office hit with 47 Meters Down, starring Mandy Moore and Claire Holt as sisters submerged in the deep blue sea. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged keeps the same premise - hungry sharks - but features a different storyline with new characters.
In 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, four teenage girls plan to explore an underwater city in Mexico. They converse with the locals and then set off on a big adventure. Unfortunately, the group’s excursion is interrupted by aggressive sharks that anxiously wait for the right opportunity to attack. Hollywood veterans Nia Long and John Corbett have supporting roles in 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, while Canadian actress Sophie Nélisse and American actress Brianne Tju portray two of the young explorers. The main cast is rounded out by Sistine Rose Stallone (the daughter of Sylvester Stallone) and Corinne Foxx (the daughter of Jamie Foxx). Both actresses make their big screen debuts in 47 Meters Down: Uncaged.
Given that 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is the second installment of the franchise, moviegoers may be curious if a post-credits sequence teases the next movie. However, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged does not have a post-credits scene. While it’s always worthwhile to watch the credits, those expecting anything extra after the lists of names are in for a disappointment.
Because 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is a horror survival movie, it makes sense that the producers wouldn’t have a gag reel or even a teaser clip. After all, it’s certainly possible that Roberts’ new shark film won’t match the box office success of the original, which could end the franchise or change the direction. That said, since critic reviews have been mostly positive, it does seem likely that a 47 Meters Down 3 will be made.
There’s also a more production-focused reason to not include a short teaser clip at the end of 47 Meters Down: Uncaged’s credits. Since the first two movies don’t feature the same cast members, Roberts and company probably don’t have any characters or, indeed, story to tease. Just as 47 Meters Down and 47 Meters Down: Uncaged are standalone movies, so too will any third movie likely have a new story.
