Does Frozen 2 have an end-credits scene setting up another Frozen sequel adventure for sisters Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell)? The princesses of Arendelle were first introduced in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen, which hit theaters in 2013 and became a massive success. Not only was it a hit among critics, Frozen went on to earn $1.276 billion at the box office. Now six years later, Frozen 2 will tell a new story about Elsa and Anna. In fact, the two will go on an adventure to discover the source of Elsa’s magical powers when an unknown force threatens the people of Arendelle.
To get audiences hyped for the upcoming Frozen sequel, there have been plenty of Frozen 2 posters and teasers setting up what fans can expect. In addition to Anna and Elsa, fan-favorites Olaf (Josh Gad) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) are returning, along with Kristoff’s trusty reindeer friend Sven. However, the Frozen 2 trailers have been a little light on the actual plot of the movie, keeping much of the new adventure a secret. Now that Frozen 2 is hitting theaters, though, audiences will get to experience the new Frozen movie themselves.
Those checking out Frozen 2 in theaters this holiday season may be wondering if they need to stick around for a post-credits scene. Frozen 2 DOES have an end-credits scene at the very end of the movie. While the credits are always worth watching to get an idea of who helped make a movie, Disney fans should expect one post-credits scene, located at the very end of the film.
We won’t spoil the Frozen 2 post-credits scene for those who haven’t seen the movie yet, but it should be noted the scene doesn’t work to set up Frozen 3. Instead, like many other Disney animated movie credits scenes, it provides an additional joke for viewers that stuck around. There is, however, a fun return of one particular Frozen character who doesn’t appear in the main Frozen 2 storyline. So Frozen fans will want to stick around for the extra fun in the Frozen 2 end-credits scene, but those who only watch credits scenes that set up future movies can skip this one.
In addition to the post-credits scene, the Frozen 2 credits highlight pop covers of some of its songs. Panic! At the Disco’s cover of Elsa’s “Into the Unknown,” Weezer’s cover of Kristoff’s “Lost in the Woods,” and Kacey Musgraves’ cover of Queen Iduna’s (Evan Rachel Wood) “All Is Found” play over the credits. So moviegoers who enjoyed the Frozen 2 soundtrack and wanted to hear more of the movie’s songs can listen to all three pop covers during the credits. It follows on the trend of Disney bringing in popular bands and artists to cover some of their animated movie songs, just as Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go” from Frozen received a cover version by Demi Lovato.
While Frozen 2 doesn’t include a post-credits scene setting up a third movie, there’s plenty of fun during the film’s credits. So fans who enjoy the film’s music and want to see the extra joke should know to stick around for the Frozen 2 end-credits scene.
