Need for Speed Heat is EA’s first racing game that will support cross-platform play from June 9th onwards. It will be available in Playstation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One as well.
Fans of the illegal street racing world are already familiar with the Need for Speed series. With a lot of game editions, movie adaptions, and even toy models, the Need for Speed video game is a cult classic that has spread to a wide range of audiences.
Released in1994, the game has grown under the Electronic Arts management, with over 150 million copies sold. A game that has seen considerable growth over the year is finally being ported for multi-platform playing. Yes! You read that, right! EA is finally entering into the cross-platform gaming genre.
Criterion Games has taken over the development of the entire Need for Speed game franchise and has officially announced on Monday that the next update will mark the final to the popular series.

Does Need for Speed Heat Support Cross-Platform Play?
Players will need to install the latest update and then opt for racing against friends on different platforms. There will be a ‘Find Friends’ menu that will be easily accessible in the Party Menu for players. Here, players can search for their friends to see if they are online and available for a cross-platform race.
Criterion Games is right now working on the next installment to the Need for Speed series. The newest update that will roll out tomorrow will be the final one for Need For Speed Heat. It will be available for EA Access and Origin Access Basic Vault from June 16th onwards.
Along with Need for Speed Heat, Need for Speed Rivals, and 2016 Need for Speed have also made their way onto Steam with other EA games in the past week. EA has said that it will release more of its PC games onto Steam. With a lot more games adopting cross-platform play, it is still unclear whether EA will enable cross-platform play for their other games like FIFA, Madden, or Apex Legends.
