An update to the DirecTV Now live TV app is today adding support for the TV app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Users will now be able to easily search and access shows, as well as keep track of your viewing history within the TV app. AT&T announced the news through an official blog post on its website. DirecTV Now will also integrate with Siri search, helping users more easily discover what is available on the service through its on-demand library as well as live TV content....

New update on June 5, 2020: In response to a user complaint on Twitter, Disney+ Help reached out to the user and confirmed that the issue is now fixed. Therefore, those who were facing the problem on their Samsung TV can once again start streaming media from Disney+. While it did take roughly a week for the fix to arrive, it’s better late than never. Hi Lisa, thanks for your patience while we worked with the manufacturer on a fix!...

Disney isn’t shying away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe any time soon, as Walt Disney Studios executive Alan Horn thinks Marvel fans will show up for years to come. The MCU is finishing out a blockbuster year that introduced the world to Captain Marvel, delivered another adventure with Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and concluded the massive Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame. This year, Marvel also worked out a deal with Sony to share Spider-Man for another MCU appearance and solo film and announced several upcoming movie releases....

Director David Leitch has teased what to expect from his Netflix movie adaptation of Tom Clancy’s The Division video game series. The project was originally announced in 2016, with Jake Gyllenhaal starring. Oscar-winning writer and director Stephen Gaghan (Gold) boarded the film in the months that followed, but was ultimately replaced by Leitch in April 2018. The Deadpool 2 director had already committed to helming Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw by that point, so the idea was that he would direct The Division movie as his followup....

On the heels of Apple reportedly securing a comedy series starring Kristen Wiig, the company has signed on director Damien Chazelle for another straight-to-seires drama, according to a report from Variety. Details about the show are still unknown, but Chazelle will be directing every episode of the series. He will also act as executive producer alongside Jordan Horowitz and Fred Berger. The series will be produced by Media Rights Capital....

Second Act tells the story of Maya (Jennifer Lopez), who creates a fake persona for herself in an effort to climb the corporate ladder in an effort to prove that it takes more than a fancy degree to make it in the world of business. Of course, once her lie begins to unravel, chaos and hilarity inevitably ensue. Co-starring Leah Remini, Vanessa Hudgens, and Milo Ventimiglia, Second Act was a strong performer at the box office, grossing $72 million worldwide, more than four times its budget of $16 million....

In 2010, Disney released Alice in Wonderland, the studio’s first live-action adaption of one of their classic animated properties. Seven years later, the newest live-action remake, Beauty and the Beast, is set to premiere this month, with several other titles close behind it. Live-action remakes are a great way to breathe new life into animated classics and to take advantage of all the technology cinema currently has to offer. The bar was so low for a good video game movie, but Pokémon: Detective Pikachu managed to deliver and exceed expectations. Who cares if it has a 60% on Rotten Tomatoes? Detective Pikachu has released to great success, and that’s partially because of how much respect the filmmakers have for the Pokémon characters in general. There are a lot of Pokémon put into this movie and altered to fit in live-action. For the most part, they look fantastic, though there are some that didn’t make the transition quite as gracefully. That’s not to say any of them look awful, just they don’t look as good as the others....

DigiTimes reports, based on “sources in the upstream supply chain”, that a next-generation MacBook Pro with a Retina-capable display sporting a 2880-by-1800 resolution could arrive in the second quarter of 2012: The report continues asserting that Acer and Asustek Computer also plan to launch high-end Ultrabook models sporting the 1920-by-1080 pixel resolution displays versus the 1366-by-768 displays typically found on today’s Ultrabooks. The rumor might make sense as Intel’s upcoming Ivy Bridge platform natively supports displays with up to a 4096-by-4096 pixel resolution and is capable of decoding multiple 4K video streams at once....

Recently, Stars Wars has made progress in clearing up the confusion surrounding the definition of parsec, but Disney has once again backtracked. The term parsec was first brought up in A New Hope, when Han Solo claimed that the Millennium Falcon was the fastest ship in the galaxy since it “made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.” That feat quickly became a legend and it’s been brought up multiple times throughout the Star Wars franchise....

A new report by DigiTimes today shows the global tablet shipment in Q1 2021 dropped sequentially and will continue to suffer in Q2. Apple, however, will reportedly have a stable second quarter thanks to the iPad Pro. According to the report, global tablet shipments totaled 35.95 million units in the first quarter of 2021, down 22.7%. The latest rumors suggest that Disney want to buy Spider-Man from Sony for $4 billion or more - and they’re almost certainly wrong. Against all the odds, Disney and Sony have reached a new agreement that keeps Spider-Man in the MCU for a little longer - apparently thanks to Tom Holland’s personal intervention. Spider-Man is swinging his way into Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, and from there he’ll be leaping into one more crossover/cameo/event movie....

Jon Favreau says characters from The Mandalorian and other Disney+ Star Wars TV shows could crossover with upcoming movies. Though The Rise of Skywalker is set to conclude the iconic Skywalker saga, Disney is planning on keeping the franchise on the big screen. Earlier this year, they scheduled release dates for three Star Wars films in December 2022, 2024, and 2026, but it’s unknown what those will be. The latest word is Lucasfilm has a director for the 2022 movie, but they aren’t going to publicly discuss those plans until after The Rise of Skywalker premieres....
