Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, will now launch a week earlier in the UK and Western Europe. The new streamer has been steadily building up its subscription base since launching in North America this past November. So far, the future looks bright for the service and its content. In the months leading up to the launch of Disney+, much was said regarding the ongoing competition from streaming champ Netflix, as well as other key services launching from Apple, HBO and NBCUniversal, to name but a few....

This morning at IFA in Berlin, DJI announced its latest creation for smartphones: the DJI Osmo Mobile. Today’s news comes just a week after it took the wraps off the upgraded Osmo+. In an upset, Doctor Sleep lost to Midway at the weekend box office. Four new wide releases debuted in multiplexes this past Friday, and all of them were targeting a different demographic. In addition to horror sequel Doctor Sleep and old school war drama Midway, there was also romantic-comedy Last Christmas and the John Cena vehicle Playing With Fire competing for ticket sales. Since there’s a lot of variety in that group of titles, there seemed like there’d be enough money to go around, but there’d still need to be one weekend champion....

The sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange was finally confirmed at this year’s Comic-Con for a 2021 release. Marvel Studios announced that the movie would be called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and, as many fans suspected, Scarlet Witch will be joining the Sorcerer Supreme in his latest adventure. Nothing is confirmed about the magical mutant’s role in the film yet, other than the fact that her upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision will tie into it somehow, so for now, it’s anybody’s guess....

Doctor Who will return to our screens this April for its tenth season - the last with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. This time, he will be accompanied by two companions; Nardole, played by Matt Lucas, who has previously traveled with the Doctor, and Bill Potts. Newcomer Pearl Mackie plays Bill, and the character has no experience of alien life form or time travel, which will make for an interesting dynamic as she takes up residency in the TARDIS with two aliens....

The Doctor Who season 12 trailer has debuted, revealing monsters both new and old - including the return of the iconic Cybermen. Season 12 is the second season for Jodie Whitaker’s Thirteenth Doctor, who will again be joined by her mates Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh), Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), and Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill). During Whitaker’s first season as The Doctor, she fought mostly new villains. Disney apologized for fining an elementary school over their screening of the 2019 computer animated remake of The Lion King. Last year’s remake of the traditionally animated 1994 classic made some significant plot alterations to the original, and has generated a lot of strange or unfortunate news since its release in July. On the stranger side of things, Disney did not submit it as an animated film for either the Golden Globes or the Oscars, possibly because Disney would prefer to classify it as a live-action film much like their 2016 remake of The Jungle Book....
