Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan reveals that he once met with Warner Bros. about directing a DC film. Flanagan is a popular director, writer, and editor in Hollywood who has directed films like Oculus, Before I Wake, and the first season of The Haunting of Hill House. Flanagan also directed another Stephen King adaptation called Gerald’s Game, which released on Netflix in 2017. Flanagan was hired by Warner Bros. last year to direct the sequel to The Shining, which will star Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance....

Digitimes today reported that Apple is bringing on suppliers ready for the production ramp of the highly-anticipated 2021 MacBook Pro lineup. The report says new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros are currently scheduled to launch late in the third quarter of 2021, which presumably means September. The laptops will feature mini-LED panels, similar to the screen technology seen in the 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Whereas traditional LCD panels use a single large backlight, mini-LED screens features thousands of independent dimming zones allowing for super high peak brightness whilst delivering contrast levels similar to OLED displays....

Bob Iger has stepped down as Disney CEO, with Bob Chapek serving as his replacement. Iger has acted as the Mouse House’s CEO since 2005, when he took over the position from Michael Eisner. In the fifteen years since then, he’s overseen some massive acquisitions, beginning with Disney buying Pixar Animation for $7.4 billion in 2006. Under Iger’s watch, Disney went on to purchase Marvel for $4 billion in 2009, followed by its $4 billion deal for Lucasfilm (and, with it, Star Wars and Indiana Jones) in 2012 and, of course, their $71....

A new report from Reuters citing sources at Apple familiar with the company’s plans for future corporate offerings has unveiled new details on the Cupertino corporation’s efforts to recruit business clients and software developers. According to these sources, Apple is currently courting companies such as Citigroup, ServiceMax, and PlanGrid (among others) to augment its current IBM enterprise agreement. The exact nature of the proposed partnerships between these companies hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the general idea is similar to the IBM arrangement....

A new TV spot for Detective Pikachu includes a bit that lightly mocks Pokémon mania. In some respects, the film has the potential to be this generation’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit; the entertaining live-action/animation hybrid that puts a fun spin on noir concepts as its protagonists try to solve a mystery that goes deeper than they initially thought.
